Day 01 Your guide will meet you at Cusco airport and take you to your comfortable hotel in the center of Cusco, where you can enjoy a cup of coca tea to help you with the acclimatization to the high altitude. After taking a rest your guide will show you some of the highlights of colonial and Incan Cusco: visit the cathedral with its syncretic icons, the Korikancha which was the former main temple of the Incas, and the huge ceremonial complex of Saqsaywaman outside of Cusco. Enjoy splendid views over the historical center from there. In the evening we will arrange for a dinner with a private concert by Quechua musician Jorge Choquehuillca Huallpa, one of the Andean master musicians. D

Day 02 You will leave Cusco after an early breakfast to travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First, you will visit the magnificent Inca city complex of Pisac and briefly stop at the colorful Indian market where you find inexpensive souvenirs from all over Peru. After a delicious lunch, you will continue the journey to Ollantaytambo, where you will have a guided tour of the splendid ceremonial complex, learning about Incan cosmovision. Later in the afternoon, we will take the train to Machupicchu where we will have our dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel. Full board.

Day 03 We get up before the birds to take the first bus to the ruins and have a guided tour of the marvelous ‘lost city’ of the Incas until midday. We return to Machupicchu village where our lunch will be waiting for us before we take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Our vehicle will pick us up here and take us back to our hotel in Cusco. B + L

Day 04 Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. B

PLEASE NOTE: whilst we will arrange for the best available and healthy vegan food to make your vacation a truly once in a lifetime experience, we cannot necessarily provide a vegan lifestyle. Please be aware that you will be traveling in a country where there is still very little understanding of vegetarianism and veganism. In the high Andes, people have depended on animals during millennials in many ways, including the production of textiles. Most hotels in the Andes use alpaca blankets and feather bedding (we will arrange for alternative options wherever available). Often we prefer to have our meals cooked especially for us in conventional restaurants, as sadly, many vegan restaurants do not comply with our very high standards of hygiene. You may at times feel pushed out of your comfort zone as you may be exposed to situations contrary to your familiar lifestyle. Therefore, tolerance and flexibility are needed for traveling in Peru – a truly fascinating country!
