THE TREASURES OF ANTA

The Turquoise Lagoon of Humantay: This morning we visit the town of Mollepata, pausing in its quiet plaza with a church that has watched centuries go by. From there we  continue to Soraypampa at the foot of the sacred peaks. After a cup of coca tea to help us adjust to the altitude (3858 m) we set off on our steep uphill hike to the turquoise waters of Lake Humantay framed by glaciers (horses are available for those who prefer a lighter trek).  In Andean lore, the lagoon  is said to embody the tears of the mountain gods, offering blessings of water and fertility to the valleys below. We enjoy a home cooked picnic lunch by this unforgettable setting before returning to the lodge for a peaceful evening. Overnight at the Andean Spirit Lodge. Full board

A Taste of the Andes: This morning is yours to explore lodge gardens or simply relax. Later we will visit Hacienda Sondorf for a hands-on vegan cooking class.  Using local produce, we’ll prepare traditional Andean dishes – an experience that brings together the Andean heritage with the creativity of modern plant-based cuisine. We share the fruits of our efforts over lunch before returning to the lodge. On request we may set up an Andean ceremony (offering to Mother Earth) and coca readings carried out by an Andean psychic. Return to Cusco: After breakfast, we make our way back to Cusco, stopping to explore two fascinating Inca sites: Tarawasi once an important ceremonial center, and Killarumiyoq, thought to be be connected to lunar worship and fertility. A final picnic lunch rounds off our journey before we return to Cusco. B & L. End of all services.
