The Hidden Ruins of Choquechurco: After a hearty breakfast, we set out on a short drive before beginning an hour’s uphill walk to Choquechurco, a little-known Inca sanctuary hidden by mysterious dwarf forest. Surrounded by the stillness of the mountains we enjoy a picnic lunch with views of Humantay and Salkantay’s snow-capped peaks. The afternoon is free to relax at the lodge before dinner. Overnight at the Andean Spirit Lodge. Full board.
Day 3
The Turquoise Lagoon of Humantay: Today we set out early, pausing at the small town of Mollepata to admire its pretty square and colonial church before continuing to Soraypampa at the foot of Salkantay. After a restorative cup of coca tea to ease the altitude (3858 m) we begin our steep uphill hike to Lake Humantay (horses are available for those who prefer a lighter trek). The two hour ascent is rewarded with unforgettable views of the glaciers and the dazzling turquoise waters of the lagoon. We enjoy a home cooked picnic lunch by the shore before descending and returning to the lodge for a well earned evening of relaxation. Overnight at the Andean Spirit Lodge. Full board
Day 4
A Taste of the Andes: This morning is yours to stroll through the gardens of the lodge and enjoy the tranquility of the place. Later we will visit Hacienda Sondorf for a hands-on vegan cooking class where you’ll prepare and enjoy traditional Andean dishes made with local produce. The afternoon is free for rest and reflection before your final evening at the lodge. If you wish you may book an Andean ceremony (offering to Mother Earth) and coca readings carried out by an Andean psychic. Overnight at the Andean Spirit Lodge. Full board.
Day 5
Return to Cusco: After breakfast, we make our way back to Cusco, stopping to explore two fascinating Inca sites: Tarawasi once an importan ceremonial center, and Killarumiyoq, thought to be be connected to lunar worship and fertility. A final picnic lunch rounds off our journey before we return to Cusco. B & L. End of all services.
