Your Tour Leader
This tour is led by Oda Seedhouse de Romero, the founder of Vegetarian Peru Adventures and the Andean Spirit Lodge near Cusco, Peru, who is also an ethnologist and a certified Sivananda Yoga instructor. Having spent a lot of time in India over the years she has a deep passion for the Indian cultures and will help you to understand this fascinating world full of colors and sounds that might beat your wildest dreams.
The tour price is calculated on the basis of two people sharing a twin or double room. We use comfortable mid-range hotels and guesthouses with private facilities and air conditioning or rooms with ventilators throughout the trip.
Some single room upgrades may be available at an additional cost.
Great Vegetarian & Vegan Food:
All our included meals are 100% vegetarian and vegan food will be available on request. (Please state your food preference with your booking). Indian food is delicious but it may be a little spicy for some taste buds. Many places offer alternatives of European style food which is much blander. Be prepared to sample some new culinary delights!

Day 01 Check in at your hotel in New Delhi. Welcome meeting with your tour leader followed by dinner. Hotel + D
Day 02 Guided visit of the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid (one of the biggest mosques in India) in the morning, one of the superb pieces of 17th-century Mughal architecture left to us by Schah Jahan. Free afternoon for shopping in the government handicraft emporia where you will find a huge selection of cottage industry produced items from all over India. Overnight at Hotel in New Delhi. B
Day 03 Transfer to new Delhi Railway Station to catch the morning train to Agra. Transfer from Agra Station to the Hotel. In the afternoon we shall visit the old fort of Agra. Overnight in Hotel in Agra. B
Day 04 Visit of one of the most famous sites of the world, the Taj Mahal, the tomb built by the Moghul ruler Schah Jahan for his beloved wife between 1631 and 1648. It is known as the jewel of Muslim art in India. In the afternoon we shall visit Fatehpur Sikri (20 minutes), the ‘City of Victory’ which was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only around 10 years. It was built by Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century in honor of the Sufi saint Salim Chishti. In the late afternoon, we reach Bharatpur where we shall rest near the bird sanctuary within the National Park of Keoladeo, famous for its 366 bird species. B & D
Day 05 We explore the national park on foot to enjoy sightings of plentiful waterfowl, especially cormorants, storks and herons, land birds like bee-eaters, bulbuls and hornbills and if lucky some mammals like Chital deer, wild boar, Indian porcupine or mongoose. We spend the night at a Hotel near the Park.
Day 06 We continue our journey to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur (approx. 3 hours). We check into our centrally located hotel where we shall enjoy a delicious lunch before we visit the pink palace, the astronomical observatory of Jantar Mantar and some other attractions. Overnight at Hotel in Jaipur. B & L
Day 07 Visit of the nearby Amber Fort, a marvelous construction of red sandstone and marble, the former residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. Overnight at Hotel in Jaipur. B & D
Day 08 Today we drive on to beautiful Pushkar (2 ½ hours), sacred city and pilgrimage site situated on the shores of Pushkar Lake. We take the afternoon to explore the colorful central bazaar and possibly observe Pujas performed by the lake. Overnight at Hotel in Pushkar. B & D
Day 09 We leave early by private bus for fairy tale Bundi (about 3.45 hours) a city with a plenty of history that inspired Rudyard Kipling to stay there for several months in order to write his novel ‘Kim’. We spend the afternoon exploring the Garh palace beneath the Taragarh Fort, with its lavish murals, hovering over the city. Overnight in a Haveli or Hotel in Bundi. B & D
Day 10 In the morning we visit some of the famous step wells of Bundi (3.45 hours) as well as the beautiful old Sukh Mahal palace on the shore of the Jait Sagar Lake. After lunch, we continue our journey to Udaipur, perhaps the most romantic of all Rajasthani cities. We spend the night in a Hotel in Udaipur.
Day 11 Today we spend the morning exploring this lovely capital of the Mewar people on the shores of Pichola Lake. We shall visit the huge city palace with its courtyards and gardens and enjoy terrific views of the Lake. Later we shall visit the Jagdish temple nearby. The afternoon is free for shopping (Udaipur is one of the best places to purchase beautiful miniature paintings) or strolls of the streets on your own. In the evening you may attend a puppet show (X) before a delicious romantic dinner. We spend the night at a Hotel in Udaipur. B & D
Day 12 We leave early to continue our journey to Jodhpur (4. ½ hours). After checking into our hotel with amazing views of the Mehrangarh fort we have some free time to explore some of the famous sites in the center, like the clock tower and Sadar Bazaar. Dinner. Overnight at Hotel in Jodhpur.
Day 13 Today we visit the impressive Fort towering over the blue city in the morning. This is one of the largest forts in India, built around 1460. It contains several palaces with intricate carvings and courtyards. It also houses one of the finest museums of Rajasthan. The afternoon is free to explore the narrow streets in the heart of the blue city. Overnight Hotel in Jodhpur. B & D
Day 14 Today we visit a Bishnoi community of Durrie weavers. We will interact with our host family and stay the night in a beautiful rustic hut with private bath. The Bishnois are committed environmentalists and vegetarians. We will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Bishnois and enjoy our meals with them. Full board.
Day 15 We leave for Jaisalmer in the morning, driving through desert landscapes. We will briefly stop at Osian, an oasis in the Thar desert where we will visit the magnificent 8th century Hindu and Jain temples. We will also stop at Khichan to observe hundreds of migratory demoiselle cranes (Grus Virgo) that come here every winter (October – March). This bird is also known as ‘Koonj’ in North Indian. Beautiful women are often compared to it because of its graceful shape. We continue our journey to Jaisalmer where we shall stay the night. Overnight at Hotel in Jaisalmer. B & D
Day 16 We spend the day exploring the ancient Jain temples inside the fort and the fabulous narrow streets of this ancient ‘Golden City’ with its beautiful fairy tale like sandstone constructions, reminiscent of eras long gone. In the afternoon we shall visit the elaborately built Havelis, the former homes of merchants that were traders on the silk route. Evening concert of live Manganiyar music performed by local musicians. Overnight in Jaisalmer. B & D
Day 17 Free morning for strolling the city, visit the old palace or shops in the bazaars. In the afternoon we catch the overnight train to Delhi in first-class sleeper class. B
Day 18 Arrival at Old Delhi Railway Station at around 11.00 am. Transfer to the hotel in Delhi. Farewell dinner. Overnight at Hotel in New Delhi. D
Day 19 Breakfast. End of all services.
